Day 5 -Perfect Pamplona

What a great idea it was to take a day off in the Ancient city of Pamplona and whilst we could have physically pressed on we would have missed the most perfect day ever!!!
Starting with an awesome hotel in the old city , just off the Camino, we soaked up the amazing history and culture in every step we took from the magnificence of the Plaza del Castillo to the .. awe inspiring bullfighting stadium at Plaza del Torros which will host the famous or infamous running of the bulls in mid July. To mark this day we purchased a couple of red running of the bulls Kerchiefs , they Were lightweight after all.
Our day started with a late breakfast of a grande cafe conleche and pastry then we got lost in the many narrow back ally's, window shopping and people watching. We are also perfecting a new game called .. find the locations from the Martin sheen movie ''the way" and to date we have found many , not all in the correct chronological order ... ah the magic of movies. Our favorite by far was the cafe in the Scene where the big dutchman Joost was eating lunch as Martin sheen's character walked by ... we spent a long lunch there as we soaked up the atmosphere and views .
So our day ended n a typical Spanish way with Anita & I sharing a park bench in the plaza de Sanfancisco watching children play and families stroll in the warmth of the late evening sun. A day to remember as we retired for a good nights sleep, its up @ 6am for our 25km walk to Puente La Reina climbing over Alto del Pardon covered with huge wind turbines and the location of the famous Iron Pilgrim sculptures.
Post Script .... whilst we had the most amazing views of the old city from our hotel window (see pics) but as every good pilgrim must do we had this view obscured by our washing for a time.
