With things not working out for a rest day at Navarette and our feet having a few blister Issues it was time to drag out the Teva hiking sandals to provide a little relief So off we sauntered to Najera after a good breakfast and no -forecast of rain...our pain caused by the previous days hard surface was somewhat eased but again the last 5 km tests us.
There were some spectacular views of valleys that opened before us..covered with many crops especially grapes. This was a popular day for mt bikers and we had to be on our toes as hoards of them flew past.
Some of the paths were particularly rocky so we had to watch our steps, particularly in open toe sandles...ps: we both had minimal issues with debris getting but we were wearing socks.
They say the Camino is 60% mental and 40% physical..and for me it has been the challange of walking around a corner and looking too far ahead ,particularly when the road was straight ... i understood again Gods truth..
REFLECTION 9:
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path..not a wandreing unfocussed searchlight bouncing from here to there.
We arrived at Najera around 2:30pm and flopped onto our beds, it was then we decided to use one of our recovery days @ Santo Domingo de Calzada and rest as would have been walking a full 7 days by then.
So off we went for an early dinner then a stroll onlong the river before an early night.we had a longer day 12. We have to confess to more carb loading splashing out on pizza's in a rock and roll bar..they seem to love that era in spain and so do we..
