DAY 18 - Beautiful Blue Burgos

Ah... I did it again ,forgot to turn off my alarm on a day off so @ 6am it was another scramble to turn it off ... still able to get a few extra hours of much needed sleep. These breaks fill the soul and heal the body.
We noticed from our hotel window that there were a large number of runners assembling for what appeared to be a fun run on an amazing blue Burgos day.
So we made away out into the beautiful tree lined avenues , grabbed a light beakfast and headed to the fabulous Burgos cathedral whilst watching the host of runners go by .
Burgos revealed its magic as we walked ... beautiful ,tree lined avenues , cafes slowly filling with well dressed Spanish families enjoying their Sunday together.
We were seduced to stop and grab a chocolate con churros (see pic ) ... hmm so good . Finally dragged ourselves away and rounded the corner to be confronted by the beautiful Burgos Cathedral which we enjoyed touring for the following few hours ... overwhelming and conflicting emotions , such amazing craftsmanship and input inspired by desire to worship God ... but so much excess both in use of wealth and power .. how would Jesus view all of this I wondered ?
We enjoyed sitting on a bench in the Square watching Pilgrims arrive , some we recognised and chatted with .. a group of german pilgrims caught our attention as they assembled they sang hymn's we recognised and prayed ... it was a special Camino moment.
Finally as we wound our way back to our hotel, the alley ways were now abuzz with families enjoying food and fun ... our walk back was slow and enjoyable as we soaked in the atmosphere and beautiful blue day. We enjoyed a rest before heading back out for an early dinner ... and early night as we tackle the frst 21km of the meseta to Hornillos...max temp 28 deg c...we also will break the 300km milestone tomorrow..whoohoo!!
