Day 19 - Mild & kind Meseta

The Camino has been kind to us on our first day on the Meseta ... there was a deal of cloud cover at times and an infrequent cooler wind which seem to keep the temps down (still 29deg C) .... the hands free Treking umbrella did get a good run once we hit the Meseta (see pics) ... and with a lot of interest shown by everyone who passed by.
We spoilt ourselves one last time with a huge breakfast @ our Burgos Hotel .... and were feeling well and truly fuelled up for our 20+ km walk to Hornillos del Camino .We again really enjoyed our day off ... Burgos Is a beautiful city , particularly the old section where we stayed and the 4km walk out of the city was on the whole, delightful .
We ensured we took regular breaks and kept hydrated so even as the temp climbed we felt strong.
As we started to climb Alto Meseta we agreed to find the next shady spot and have a rest ( there are few trees on the Meseta ) ... low and behold . as we rounded a corner our prayers were answered with a little oasis with a large clump of shady trees , table & chairs and water... another Camino Miracle !
Finally we got to the edge of the Alto overlooking our stop for the night ... so near yet so far with a long & winding path to traverse till we made it .
So arriving feeling reasonably good we were pleased with the near new alburgue we had booked in . We took advantage of the washing machine after 17 days of hand washing. So here we are resting after a lovely shower ... not much to see in the town but , as with many small rural towns, the Camino is breathing life back into their economies.
Oh by the way ... we passed our 300km milestone today  . and getting stronger everyday with blisters healing and with our slow and steady pace, all other parts of the body feeling great! ( old guy's & girls rule )...yes...yes I know the Camino will humble us.
Ps: after 3 weeks away from home , family and all we find familiar I found my thoughts turning there...bringing a good feeling to my soul.
PPs: Camino is amazing..in a town of 100 people with one just waited over an hour to get a seat at their 20 seat restaurant ...meeting people from all over the world
Ppps: included a pic of a shrine to the broken shoe...hopefully it shows the effort put into it
