Day 43 - 700 km and going strong

Today was another typical Galacian Day ( did I say that yesterday?) with a foggy/cloudy/ muggy start clearing to a beautiful sunny 27 deg day by 12:30 . You also start with a hike up a mountain from which you descended the previous day . .. a great way to wake you up but sweating so early on in the morning is a pain but the views again are spectacular .
We again joined the throng of "baggage forwarding 100km walking" pilgrims who we gradually let overtake us so we had some semblance of peace...actually they are very nice really its just when they zoom past us with a little day pack or complaining about their blisters...I did mention that we were fine after 400km ☺.
The wooded paths are magical and the overhanging trees keep us shaded from the sun ..whilst in the fields young calves pester their mothers for a drink .. sounds like a Disney Movie but it really is true .
We passed another milestone today having walked over 700km's .. wow I can remember when we hit 300km and celebrated. .. again it is a truth on the Camino as In life . . jut take one step at a time and you ALWAYS make it.
The other significant event today was the sighting of ( and smelling ) our first Gumtree ... ah Eucalyptus and the Aussie bush, makes me want to whistle up Skippy.☺ We go through a whole forest of them in our last few days on the Camino..what a great transition for home.
On the Camino there are so many sights that bring a smile to your face...today we had the bossy chook that inhabited the eating area of a cafe...it even chased the cat away ..Anita kept encouraging it with food. The other was the bread lady who sped through the small hamlets with horn blaring before screeching to a Holt as an old women came out of her house to get a loaf....scared the life out of us the first time she did it. (See pic)
We are now relaxing on the deck of our restored pilgrim hospital at Lestedo..chores done..looking forward to a short day tomorrow as we start to get close to Santiago.
