With a well deserved sleep in it was a short 14km walk to Triacastela encountering our first Fog of the trip as we descended our mountain top position . The Galacian countryside became more and more visible , so green , steep landscape dotted with cows and crops ... I wondered how they could make a living or often even farm its steep slopes but they have been doing it at a relaxed face for hundreds of years so who am I to question .
The climbing then descending will be a part of the Galacian Camino from now on so whilst the stresses on the body of both can be demanding we are well trained for it now with with over 600km under our belt.
We passed though many small hamlets who were housing their herds often under the family home, with the associated smells , . all part of Rural life . We did get an unexpected highlight passing through one such hamlet with a herd of cows being bought back from pasture up the very narrow street ... I immediately ducked into a recessed area away from their lumbering 1 tonne frames and long menacing horns ... but not the adventure seeking Anita who stayed in the street to get a closer look, caught up in the bovine flow , I dutifully videotaped the whole episode expecting my wife to be swept away on a sharp bovine horn at any moment., no it was not Pamplona's running of the bullsand she did survive with a BIG cheeky smile on her face .
After such exileration we flew down to to Triacastela and another wonderful surprised as I had manage to secure a room in a beautifully restored farm house on the edge of town , our well priced country retreat...so we enjoyed the amazing rural setting and rustic accommodation...what an amazing day where we even saw the running of the bulls.
