Day 36 - Little sleep but the Camino was kind

We started the day as usual for a shorter day around 7:30 and with nice pilgrim breakfast of Cafe con leche .,orange juice and toasta ... with butter and jam ( we did sneak some vegemite though customs and use the last of it only a few days ago ... amazing how flavours from home mean so much. ) Unfortunately we also left our last rest day with little . ..rest after what sounded like a huge dance party rocked Ponferrada ... think the thumping stopped around 2am. One look at Anita's bad hair shot and you can tell how we felt ( see pic)
We walked again under a beautiful blue sky and temp a couple I degrees cooler as we get closer to the mountains. With undulating hills covered in vineyards and just over 16km to walk we were into our wonderful accommodation @ Cacabdos around 12 md ..chores done, showered and catching on some sleep from last night in this beautiful old world charm accommodation that the Europeans do so well. If you are over this way check out "Mondoa de San Lazaro" ( included a pic ...you have to have some comfort on the Camino you know) .
We were reminded that our journey was drawing to a close as we passed a sign showing less than 200km to Santiago .. included a pic of a couple of worn out shoes hanging in a tree near the sign ... says it all ... ITS NOT OVER TILL ITS OVER !!!
My thoughts and prayers turned to home as I reflected on a close mate and legend of the faith who has been fighting sickness for some time ... prayed for a break through ... don't believe Grahame has finished his life's Camino just yet !
We are excited as we head up over the mountains in the next few days..a short day tomorrow then some longer ones as accommodation becomes scarcer.
