Day 30 - how quickly a Camino day can turn

We had finished the previous day strongly , all chores done , rested and enjoyed hospitality & a home cooked pilgrim meal with other Pilgrims@ Tito Pepe alburgue ... some lovely wine and they surprised us with a free liqueur for a lovely finish to the day. With The prospect of a shorter day and a sleep in ... we were looking forward to another good day ... that's not how thing always turn out on the Camino or in real life.
After a hot ( note,no fans or aircon in Alburgues) and restless night I awoke with decidedly upset stomach then after some ablutions my nose started bleeding !! What, this can't happen to me ... I have a 15km walk to do and a route plan to execute !! ... after a little panic from "Moi" ,imagining myself in a blood soaked shirt rushing regularly into the open farm fields to relieve myself ..barely able to drag myself along on the walk.
"Wake up to yourself"...thanks to my practical and realistic wife I was snapped back to reality .."just deal with it"- its only the hot weather and an overdone previous evening . now take this ! ( an overdose of Parex plus .. a naturopathic parasite etc etc killer )..."yes dear"....and everything did work out and my worse nightmare never eventuated. Still not 100% but made it to the town called "Hospital de Orbigo" and recoverying on the balcony over looking their famous 13th century puente. (See pic)

So a reminder not to get too far ahead of myself on the Camino..deal with today and put it into perspective...today will end and a new day will come!.So with the Camino ..so with life!

As of now we have walked nearly 500km (498) of the Camino proper...528km when you tack on our wanderings...time is going way too fast

A sobering bit of news I heard today as we started our walk was the untimely passing of Jan Dunstan who was enjoying a well deserved cruise holiday with husband Trevor. She was a long standing member of our Gateway faith community and she will be missed. She is now enjoying an eternal Camino that ,as Christians ,we all have before us. This sombre note flavoured today's walk ..praying for Trevor as he lives without his life partner...reflecting on Jan's welcoming smile & caring heart.
Enjoy what God has laid out for you today...it will be enough!
Buen Camino
