So today we continued our descent from our mountain top to Ponferrada .. the site of the famous Castillo de los Templarios ( Castle and head quarters of the Temper Knights ) and day off for Cavs Camino ... looking forward to the sleep in (will turn off alarm now given the last episode ).Firstly I enjoyed a colourful sunrise from our bathroom window (see pic) this morning which set the day up perfectly.... it was then we had to leave our mini resort we enjoyed so much .
The day was again a beautiful blue 30 deg C and we had further to descend . thankfully not as brutal as yesterday but testing on the body just the same .. thank heaven for our walking poles and the hours of training going down Mt Cotton .. some sections would be impassable and dangerous In the wet .
It was a real delight as we hit our halfway mark 8.5km) at the beautiful Molinaseca ... where we enjoyed our cafe Con leche and boccadilla with a perfect view of the river and bridge (see pics)...what we pilgrims have to do.☺
Had another random reflection as we passed by a fenced paddock of goats on the way into a small village..they seemed content despite the lean pickings available ... probably commiserating amongst themselves about those poor pilgrims walking by . Yet the reality was that as pilgrims we had the world unconstrained by any fence exploring all that life has to offer .. what we were made for. -. so as with the Camino .. as with life ( don't be a goat settling for something less than what you were made for ).
Another Camino surprise just caught our attention as we walked in our own thoughts..on a small rock in our path "Always smile... Coco" (see pic)
So we made it to our accommodation and settled in...earliest dinner is 7pm, taking a bit of getting used to. Took a few snaps of castle..but will have more tomorrow.
Till then
Buen Camino
